The project “Digital Literacy for the Elderly” is relevant in solving the problems of social adaptation of elderly people to the modern information environment. The main task of the project is to enable elderly people to communicate with their loved ones living in other cities, use the information they are interested in, via the Internet.

Thanks to the training you will get:

  • a general idea of what a personal computer is;
  • learn the rules and safety precautions of working on the Internet;
  • learn to type and format texts and use files and folders;
  • access the Internet on your own and use government portals, websites, and applications.

For many, such training will give them the opportunity to realize themselves in some new areas, as well as make it easier, simpler and more mobile to solve the many tasks they faced in everyday life. With the help of the Internet, they will learn from the comfort of their own home to pay for utilities, as well as to order a cab, see information about buses, city shuttle buses, and order medications through apps. This project gives them the opportunity to adapt to modern society. It helps to improve their quality of life and gives them psycho-emotional confidence.

Course Goals and Objectives

Educational assistance in mastering information technologies for senior citizens. Objectives: To acquaint with the capabilities of the personal computer; To form the skills of PC management; To help in mastering the Internet space; To teach the techniques of working with popular computer programs; To teach the use of modern means of communication and communication to obtain information, communication; To acquaint with the possibilities of obtaining some state and municipal services via the Internet.

Results at the end of the course

It is expected that the older generation will acquire basic computer and Internet skills and learn how to use electronic government services, get interactive help and advice over the Internet, write emails – communicate with relatives from other cities and even countries – become full members of the modern information society. For senior citizens their new computer skills are a step on the path to social adaptation and a fuller life in the modern world, and the knowledge acquired during the project will help them quickly adjust and adapt to the new pace of life. Course outline

The total number of lessons per course is 20. Number of classes per week – 2 times. The lesson lasts for 1 hour. 30 minutes. The duration of the course – 2 and a half months (20 sessions). Mode of operation: 1 gr. 10.00-11.30; 2 gr. 14.00-15.30.
